Recruiting FAQ

Having the right information in a timely manner is critical to our decision making. Likewise, we want you to be as informed as possible so here are some upfront answers to some of the most frequently asked questions that we’ve received.

Which majors does Belden accept for internships and full-time positions?

We look for individuals from a variety of areas including engineering and technology, industrial distribution, supply chain, logistics, operations management, marketing, sales, operations and operations management, business, finance, accounting, economics, business development, and human resources, to name a few.

What skills does Belden look for in a candidate?

We are looking for high energy, enthusiastic individuals who aren’t afraid to step outside the box to make decisions.  We realize that especially with entry level candidates, you won’t bring highly developed skills to the table but we look at soft skills outside of functional expertise.  We are looking for individuals who can “hit the ground running,” individuals who want to learn and grow and build their career with our organization, who work well in teams and who fit into and embrace our culture.

For an internship, you must be enrolled at an accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of study.  You must be pursuing a relevant degree or course of study that fits into Belden’s organization and must be in good academic standing within your major and overall at the college or university.

Who will I work with if I accept an internship or full-time role with Belden?

You will work with a team of our organizational experts, both in your field and outside your function.  You’ll work with our associates and managers on real projects with identified goals and measurable results.

Does Belden pay for relocation for interns or new graduates?

Possibly.  For an internship we will get you to the internship location and back to your college for the start of your semester.  For full-time roles, relocation allowances are available.

How do I apply?

If we meet you at one of your campus events we ask that you apply through your career services department for a position we have posted on their system.  If we have not attended an event at your college institution, visit our Career Opportunities page and apply for a position through our career placement system.  You must submit a copy of your resume or C.V. to be considered.

How does the selection process work?

For both internships and full-time opportunities, resumes and C.V.’s are reviewed by our Belden recruiting team and our hiring managers.  If you are selected for a first interview with Belden, you will be contacted by phone or e-mail with instructions.  We conduct interviews using several different methods:  face-to-face, videoconference and teleconference.

What is the duration of a summer internship assignment?

Internship assignments at Belden are typically 8 to 12 weeks in length, with the dates dependent on the individual student’s academic calendar.  Usually summer internships begin between May and the end of August.

What would my summer experience at Belden be like?

You are invited to spend a summer at Belden to learn new skills, and stretch and grow the skills you already have.  We will provide hands-on, real-world assignments and projects with true deliverables that will benefit the organization.  In addition, you will be given ample opportunity to network with Belden senior leaders, managers and associates as you participate on teams and interact with team members, both in your field of expertise and outside of your normal function.
